8. Health Plan Data and Third-Party API Access
CoverIQ is designed to connect to health insurance plan data through authorized APIs, including those provided by health plans such as CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, in compliance with applicable federal regulations including the CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Rule (45 CFR Part 156).
When you authorize CoverIQ to access your health plan data, we may retrieve:
- Claims and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) data
- Coverage and benefits information
- Provider directory information
- Drug formulary data
Purpose of access: This data is used solely to provide you with personalized insights — such as identifying potential billing errors, surfacing unused benefits, and helping you understand your coverage. We do not use this data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or use it to train AI models without your explicit consent.
Your control: You may revoke CoverIQ's access to your health plan data at any time through your health plan's member portal or by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon revocation, we will delete your health plan data within 30 days.
Retention: Health plan data is retained only as long as you maintain an active CoverIQ account or as required by law. You may request deletion at any time.
9. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+), encryption at rest, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law, including Maryland's Personal Information Protection Act.
10. Children's Privacy
